There is never a dull moment in the Mitchell house. I hope you enjoy the ride. We sure do!!!!

Roasting Some Marshmallows

With all this gorgeous weather we FINALLY got a big item off our "to do" list...A FIRE PIT!! We didn't do anything fancy, but it is perfect for holding a fire in and roasting marshmallows. We've had 2 fires out there so far and already have a glimpse at how much fun we will have with some family camping in the future. For right now it's nice to be able to have the conveniences of the house being right here because there seem to be SO many things the kids need. It is good practice so we know what all we need when the day finally comes. I think the best part of the night was completely "unplugging" and just spending great quality time together. We were really bummed when it was so cold this weekend and we weren't able to do it again. Here's to hoping next weekend gives us some more chances to hang by the fire.
What else do you have when cooking out....hotdogs, beans, and mac and cheese!
Ty put his hat on this way. Quite the character....
3 Happy Boys!

Showing the boys how it's done.
Ty's first s'more.
MMMMMM.....Yummy and gooey!
Not so sure...
No question as to whether or not Myles loves it.

Do I have something on my face?

What do I do now???
This was all Ty ate before he was done....More for me. :-)
Myles got his first try at roasting marshmallows.
Ty decided he didn't like the s'mores, but he DID like the graham cracker. So he ate an ENTIRE bag by himself....
Can't leave that crumb on my face.....
Yep....another one.
Happy little man!
Myles found a solution to the fire being too hot while trying to roast....get a longer stick.
Now that is the face of a boy who has had a fun night by the fire.

Here Come the Shaws

We were recently blessed with a visit from my sister Becky and her kids, Trevor and Tori!!! We felt pretty darn honored that they chose to spend their spring break with us. There is never a dull moment when all the kids get together. Myles loves to try to do anything that Trevor does and Trevor loves to be a big role model to both Myles and Ty. Tori is finally lucky enough to have a girl cousin she can bond with too! Constant action and constant fun were pretty much on the agenda at all times. We had wonderful weather while they were here so we got to go to an Easter egg hunt, dig for worms, and visit the aquarium. It was all a BLAST!!!

Myles and Tori were ready to get their egg hunt on!
 The entire egg hunting crew.
Natalie was pretty stoked about Aunt Becky's visit!
Nat was putting in a retaining wall around the opening of our crawl space so it was the perfect place to look for worms. It was fun to see that they were just as excited by the 1st worm as they were the 101st worm.

Tori was holding her own with the boys!

We collected all the worms and put them in the garden. We're hoping they'll make that ground EXTRA NUTRITIOUS so we get some BIG veggies this year!
I think they may have been just as excited to see the diver cleaning the tank as they were seeing the massive fish...
Ty of course had to show me he knew how to swim like a fish....on the dirty floor. That's what wet wipes are for right? He had great form at least. :-)
My sweet girl was loving it all!
We were SO excited that Mighty Mike was back!!! This thing was a BEAST and SO much fun to watch now that we're huge fans of the show Swamp People.

Ty was just chatting it up with Mike.

SO awesome to see this guy up close. Having Mighty Mike back makes buying our season pass to the aquarium totally worth it!
Checking out the size comparison.
So this little guy just totally invited himself into the picture. He was standing close to us and then just kept creeping over until he was right in with the boys. I LOVE that he looks more related to Ty than Myles does. Seriously, he is a mini Ty!!!  SO FUNNY!
I know my neighbor is happy these beasts are not in her backyard!!
I LOVE that they are willing to cheese it up for me!! AWESOME!

Expert tree climber! Myles keeps having me put him up on the first limb and then as he's holding on for dear life he says, "When I get back like Trevor I can climb to the top." I already fear an ER trip will be in our future.
Kinda think I'm going to make them put these matching jammies on even when they're far too big to wear them. :-)
Buddies
The 2 sweet little ladies of the family!!

One of my favorite parts of the trip was when Becky and I found common ground on a dessert. Becky and Mom are the salt lovers of the family and Jenny and I are typically the sugar lovers. I found a recipe for a pistachio dessert on where else, Pinterest, and we made it AND devoured it....all....by ourselves.....I've made it again since she was here and although it was just as good, it was not as much fun knowing that I was the only one sneaking to the fridge to steal "just one bite" every time I went through the kitchen. We didn't even take the spoon out of the pan. We would have had to wash WAY too many of them. LOVE me some sisterly love and sharing.  Here is the recipe.....http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/Holiday-Pistachio-Dessert  SOOOOO Yummy.
