There is never a dull moment in the Mitchell house. I hope you enjoy the ride. We sure do!!!!

Sick boys.....

At the doctor waiting for some relief.
This last week I have had to take time off from documenting all the fun events of our crazy lives because......it hasn't been all that fun really. :-) We went to Atlanta last weekend and Ty got a runny nose while we were there and it all went down hill from there. We came home and ended up at the doctor on Wednesday. Our regular doctor couldn't see us so we went to someone else. I DESPISE having to go to a different doctor. Once I get comfortable with one doctor I feel like they know my boys and know what is "normal" and just take better care of us. The doctor we saw did a great job and reminded me of Kenny Rogers, but confused me the entire time. The Kenny Rogers similarity made me smile though. :-) Then he started talking to us/Ty and I was not comforted. He would talk to Ty like he was an adult and I was totally confused as to whether he was talking to me or Ty. I would answer and he would look at me like, "Why are you answering for him". I finally just stopped saying anything and kept kissing my sick little man and telling him how great of a job he was doing. It seemed to please the doctor as well. We ended up giving him a breathing treatment to try to clear up the stuff in his chest. For being sick, he had amazing fight. When we put the mask to his face he became crazy. I tried to do it myself and the nurse could hear him screaming and came back to help. After 5 minutes straight of nonstop screaming and flailing, I was sweating and exhausted and all of a sudden he just fell asleep sitting up. He was done! At the end of it all the doctor said he had a double ear infection (yes..that's right! After those expensive tubes he has an ear infection! Awesome!) and he also got meds for "swollen vocal cords". Not sure if that is code for "going to charge you big bucks for penicillin" or what, but whatever it was he was doing better the next afternoon. We had 1 night of solid sleep only to be woken up in the morning to Myles coughing...UGH..Now he had the same deal and we will see how he is in the mornig and we may be heading back in to the doctor tomorrow. Oh the fun. As for tonight, we will be snuggling up on the couch and relaxing.
We have seen better days.

Oh Boys....

Here are a few pictures from this week that I just needed to share....My boys sure have "personality", don't they?

Jase was teaching Mini Man how to play the Wii. Jase is obviously not very animated :-).

Myles LOVES to be a fireman. I would buy him a real costume since he loves it so much but I enjoy seeing his creativity when it comes to making up an outfit so why spend the money. Here you can see he has on a fire hat, gloves, and an "oxygen tank" in the back. Usually he has on my big black high heeled boots as well, but that was just after I took the picture. Who wouldn't want this face coming to rescue them from a fire?

This child will be the death of me....We now HAVE to shut the bathroom door because if we don't, Ty goes straight for the toilet EVERY TIME. This happened when I was getting Myles dressed in the morning and we forgot to shut it. Notice that he is even using Myles' stool to get a better angle in the toilet...Who needs a dog to make a mess when I have Ty? SO GROSS!!!

Spring Yet?

I must confess that I am SICK OF WINTER!!! I know that isn't a shocker as it seems to be how most people feel about right now. The reason I feel badly about my disgust for winter right now is that everyone in MN has is SOOOOOO much worse and I am complaining about it being "chilly" out. We have yet to have a below zero day or more than 3 inches of snow yet, but I am DONE and I feel bad for that. For all the Northerners reading this, I am sorry. I am a wimp. I am just ready to take my  boys outside and let them run and play and not be right on top of each other every second. I'm also ready for that sunshine to bring my mood through the roof. Enough complaining....this weekend we had some great weather and got outside and enjoyed every second we could squeak out of it. I had to wash the boys' jeans and gloves off in the sink before putting them in the wash because there was so much mud. The weather was great and the boys were happy, the rest doesn't matter! Ty ended up muddy from head to toe and had to be stripped down in the garage and taken straight to the tub. The sign of a good time outside if you ask me!

My Valentines

This Valentines Day was maybe the best yet!! I have 3 Valentines and I adore each of them more than I ever thought was possible. Nat asked me if he was "suppose to do anything" for Valentines Day. I told him no, and he breathed a sigh of relief. I treat Valentines Day as MY day to celebrate my boys and how much I love them so that is what I did. My mom always did something special for us on Valentines day, and she still does :-), and I want my boys to have that as well. So the morning started out with some festive decorations, a few small (re)gifts (They don't know the difference anyway so why spend the money), and a red cupcake for breakfast. Myles literally asked me 3 times if he could eat it and even kept one eye on me as he took the first bite. Poor kid was so confused. :-) We made cookies for Nat and had a great dinner followed by an evening all together playing and just loving life! GOD IS AMAZING!!

Listening to NANA read a book to Myles thanks to technology. Even Nat was impressed at how cool it was.

SUPER Bowl

It has been almost a week since the big defeat of 2011....Nat has finally started talking again....Kidding...With the Super Bowl finally over, I am ELATED at the fact that we get a couple month break from our Sundays revolving around football. I can't tell you how exciting this is for me. Nat is excited on Super Bowl Sunday because of the big game. I am excited because it means it's the last game of the season. Either way, it's an exciting day for us both. This year I was shocked to see the Steelers in the championship game to be honest, but like the good wife that I want to be I cheered them on relentlessly all game long. In the back of my mind though, I really was ok with the idea of the Packers winning because it is Minnesota's neighbor so it is a win win if you ask me. As my friend Holly says, "You are all kinda the same up there in the North". What can I say, "Once a Northerner, always a Northerner."
We celebrated the game like everyone else, way too much junk food and staying up way too late. We had great company and enjoyed being in a stress free kid zone. It's nice having friends at the same stage as you are because there is no apologizing, you just go with it. Little Man loved all the junk food and has took a few days to realize that cheetos can NOT be eaten all day long every day. He of course lasted until the end of the game, my little night owl.
Maybe next year will be a better year for the Steelers. Maybe Big Ben will leave the team and we can have some pride in them again...Maybe I will actually get to watch an entire game next year. Lost of maybes.

All in our Steelers gear.
This is what happens when you try to take a picture of 4 boys under 4...
These boys WILL be trouble as they get older.

Flat Stanley and I enjoying the game.

Cheetos and mismatched jammies. What a night!

Myles-isms

Now that Little Man is talking up a storm it's almost daily that we hear funny things coming from his mouth. I had to start writing them down because I know I will forget them way too soon. So read on and enjoy the mind of a 3 year old.

Me: Myles it is time to get moving.
Myles: Oh Mom, 2 more minutes...Come on?
Me: Are you 10 now? What the heck?

I am showering Myles with kisses and I get in a serious voice, "Mama, ENOUGH kisses".

"I am tired. I need to rest my weary wheels".  Myles has a Thomas the train book and they talk about Thomas needing to go home and rest his weary wheels.

"Daddy, daddy stop. Do you hear the words coming from my mouth?"

Myles: What does "I drink mean?"
Me: "It means you put something juice in your mouth and swallow it in your belly".
Myles: Oh....Oh

"Mama, it's spooky out!" (It was super foggy out and on his Mickey Halloween video Goofy says, "It's spooky")

"Mommy, why don't trucks have feet?"

Nat: "I don't think I am going to be able to keep going tonight. I am tired".
Myles: "Keep puffing daddy".

"Daddy, you are the best daddy I ever seen"

Me: "I am awesome!"
Myles: "You're not awesome, you're just married".....

Oh how I love to listen to this little man!! SO MUCH FUN!!

Random Pics

Last Friday I had the scary moment when my computer kept crashing every 5 minutes and I had no idea why!! I finally gave up on trying to use it and waited for my sweet, computer savvy husband to get home. He looked at it and proceeded to tell me that I may  lose "everything". I got all worked up and told him to do what he needed to do. He backed up all the files and then I thanked God since every picture I have ever taken was on my computer. Lesson learned. My job for this week is to put all my pictures on cds. Should have done this a long time ago, but it will GET DONE NOW.

Besides the computer drama it's been a pretty uneventful week. Here are just a few pics of what we've been up to this week.

Myles told me 5 minutes before this was taken, "I don't need a nap mom".

Mini Man has decided that he wants to be more Zen so he has taken up yoga.

Ty got up early so we were just chillin before breakfast. Good times.

Check this face out. T R O U B L E!!!

CLEARLY he was not born in MN.

It took Mini Man 3.1 seconds to figure out how to get the "child safety" lock open after Nat installed them.

He really is laughing at us here.

Hugging in the closet. Doesn't everyone do that?

ABC and 123

Myles has been working hard on his letters and numbers. We are not quite there, but pretty darn close. Enjoy the video!

Tubes Tubes Tubes!

Yesterday Ty became the proud new owner of tubes in his ears!! Myles got tubes at almost the exact same age and we saw such an improvement in his health after them that after Ty had his second ear infection I was asking for them. Turns out they don't just give tubes out for fun. Poor Ty had to go through 5 ear infections before we got them. I hated it because it felt like we just went from one antibiotic after another and I knew he wasn't really getting over it. We started the day extra early to get it done. The nurse told me over the phone that they do the patients in age order with youngest being first. In my absent mindedness I was thinking that was an easy way to schedule it but I was surprised they didn't just do it on a first come first serve basis. Cue the "Ah Ha" moment at 6 am when we were denying Ty any food and he was not pleased!! Thank you for smart people who think things through better than I do. It didn't make things any better that Myles was hungry too so I brought some crackers for him and we couldn't get him to eat them without Ty seeing it. It was still better than making him wait because 2 hungry kids is not a good situation for anyone!
We got to the office at 6:45am and wrestled snuggled Ty until they took him at 8:05 a.m. I timed it and from the time that they took him from my arms at 8:05 until they came to get us to tell us he was done was SIX MINUTES!!!!! That was the fastest $1500 I have ever spent! The doctor said "I think it was a REALLY good idea we did this right now because it was like "tapioca pudding" in there". How's that for a visual? We were in the car on our way home by 9 am. He is acting like nothing happened. Just the way I like it. Here's to hoping we never have to deal with another ear infection in the Mitchell house!

Chillin before they take him back.

You can't see the sweat, but MAN I was exhausted after wrestling him for an hour.

This is how Nat and Myles passed the time.

A little ABC work.

The nurses kept looking in and then freaking out because they thought HE was the patient and he was drinking milk before the procedure. Nope, he was just high maintenance.

After the surgery and ready to play some drums.
