A Little Cooking Time

I recently scored an awesome purchase at a consignment sale that even Nat was happy about. I have been looking for a kitchen play set for a while now at garage sale, but haven't been able to find one. Myles LOVES the kitchen sets and I am just praying he will love to cook as much as my nephew does and some day I won't have to do it as much. :-) This whole set, with a few pieces to go with it, was only $15!! SWEET!!! The BEST part of the whole toy is that for some odd reason the boys play TOGETHER with it. The night I got it they played...are you ready for this...for an HOUR with only one small argument. Nat and I just sat and watched in amazement. It was fantastic. We keep it in the new spare bedroom and bring it out for playtime which has been great because it is almost like it is a brand new toy every time we bring it out.
Don't you just love a good deal!!
Two happy boys!
Making Mama a grilled cheese sandwich. I couldn't be more proud!
Playing TOGETHER!
I think he decided to order pizza instead. :-)

Football Season Has Begun

Yes, it is already that time of year again....I approach the new season with excitement and dread. I do love to watch a little football here and there,  but it also means Nat wants to wants to watch A LOT of football ALL THE TIME. :-)
Watching some football and maybe a little Curious George together.

Last year I participated in my first fantasy football league with Nat. He did help me out quite a bit and we had a good time. This year we decided to get even more wives involved and it is kind of a husbands/wives league. Nat has informed me numerous times that I am on my own this year and he means it. This made it even more rewarding when he and I were matched up against each other in the first week and I BEAT him.... Badly!!!! He has since had to turn in his "Man Card" and can only hope to redeem himself later in the season. The only thing I am disappointed about is that I haven't rubbed it in more. I blame being more concerned about finishing the pregnancy than football, but I will keep the win in my back pocket for any time I need to use it. :-)

Hummus and Salsa

One of the few things that Nat and I disagree on is our food preferences. I am from the Midwest and love cheese and anything bland. :-) Nat has a more Mediterranean type preference. I consider this to be an ok deal. I never have to worry about him eating my cheese sticks and he never has to worry about me eating his hummus. He, however, likes to bond over his love for these foods. Well, we finally have a solution. Two boys who like to eat what daddy eats. Nat really does love to sit with them and enjoy chips and salsa or pita and hummus. Makes me gag, but they are happy and having a great time together so I just grab some cheese and crackers and join in.

Florida Boys

This week is an unusual week in the Mitchell house. It is just Ty and I all week long!! Nat has gone on the annual work vacation to Florida and taken Myles with him. We knew that with me being so far along that Florida was out of the picture for me. Nat's boss however wanted him to be there and invited Myles to go with as well. Kinda funny he didn't ask for BOTH boys to be there don't you think? :-) It really is a great opportunity for Nat and Myles to get some good quality time. Ty is FOR SURE the daddy's boy in the family and Myles is my little buddy so we are both getting some quality time. Unfortunately, Ty is not feeling well so that has been a little rough on this pregnant lady, but I am taking him in to the doctor today. I have no idea what they will find wrong, but at least it will put my mind at ease. It is funny because I am here near tears because Ty is so needy right now and I am super tired. Nat is bummed because he says "Myles is so independent". Funny stuff.  Either way, I am ready for them to be home now. I am SO not use to not having the craziness of both my boys being here. I am much better at having both boys by myself when Nat is gone than having just one of them and wondering how the other one is doing. I have absolutely no worries about how well Nat will be taking care of him, I just miss my Little Man. Only 6 more days. :-)

One fun thing that we have been able to do is Facetime with Nat and Myles. Ty just LOVES getting to see them and I love getting to see my love as well as Myles being so silly and happy. Kind of crazy to me that my boys will be growing up thinking it is normal to be able to see someone on your phone or IPad whenever you want! Modern technology is amazing.
I will post pictures after they get back, but here are some pics from right before they left.

Going to miss my Little Man something fierce!

Breaking Free

Ty decided that it was just too nice of a day to stay inside. He took matters into his own hands and found a chair to help with his escape. Little did he know that we have a bolt on the TOP of the door thanks to foster care standards. Nat and I were kind of annoyed with those locks when we put them on because we thought we didn't need them. Boy were we wrong.  Mom-1  Houdini-0

Moving his chair into prime escape position.

I think he is rethinking the rocking chair....

Going strong. Too bad he doesn't see the lock at the very top.

He knows he has been caught!

Random Thoughts

With three full days of rain we haven't done a lot of crazy stuff out and about, but that doesn't mean we aren't still getting stuff done. I have officially reached the nesting phase of my pregnancy. I was going to wait until Nat and Myles went to Florida on the 17th but started to just look for a couple things for the baby and now can't stop. I have gotten out all the neutral baby stuff we have and realized 2 things. We really have very little neutral baby items besides white onesies AND I really don't think that there is such a thing as truly neutral newborn clothes. You want people to know if you have a girl or a boy since you really can't tell at that age, so everything is VERY gender specific.  I don't know why I even worry about it since the likelihood of us having a girl is SOOO slim :-) SO baby clothes are out and ready to be washed. I got the bassinet up, and even bought a package of diapers.  I also have my lists of what I need to bring to the hospital for baby and me but won't pack any of that for a couple of weeks. I am feeling pretty good with getting all that accomplished.

The next big adventure that I am working on that is actually going a lot smoother than I thought is moving all of Ty's stuff into Myles' room since very soon they will be roommies. I'm looking forward to the week when Myles is in Florida to transition Ty into his big boy bed and get him use to his new room so that when Myles comes home he already has a bit of routine down. (That's how I have it in my head at least. We shall see how it all goes).

One thing that I HAVE to get is a video of Ty's newest accomplishment. He now sings with me every night at bedtime. I sing a few songs but the two he like the best and can sing the most of are "You Are My Sunshine" and "Jesus Loves Me". Myles was never one to sing with me, but Ty joins in every time and it is so sweet as he mumbles and then gets out a perfect "sunshine" or "Bible" at the right moment. I am finding we are rocking twice as long because we sing the songs so many times and it is TOTALLY worth every second of it. I just need to get it on video so I can remember it when he is too cool to sing with his mom.

Myles has been going to "school" for a couple of weeks now and is really starting to enjoy it more and more. He actually said, "Mama, I had a great day at school today. I wasn't worried at all". I'm not so sure what he was worried about, but yesterday was a good day. He's also only taking naps about 3 days a week. As much as I love when I get to nap when he does, I love the one-on-one time that he and I get. He has really become my little buddy. The age is just so much fun. Don't get me wrong, the strong will and the notion that if we ask for something that means we get it stage is hard, but some days I have to remind myself that he is only 3 and I have as much if not more fun with him than I do with a lot of adults. Don't know what that says about me, but whatev. :-) I will cherish these moments for as long as I can.

One last day at the pool before fall starts.

Shaw Visit

With our extra bedroom finished we have been able to entertain lots of guests and we LOVE IT!!! This last weekend my sister made the drive all the way from MN and we got to spend the entire weekend together. It was a wonderful way to spend the weekend and helped take my mind off the baby waiting game. :-)

How funny is it that they have matching jammies and BOTH of us got them at garage sales!
All smiles while feeding the ducks.

Maternity Pics

I am BLESSED to have a sister-in-law who is not only a talented photographer, but also one who is willing to take our pictures whenever we ask!! I wanted to get one decent maternity session in with her before baby arrived because I never did a REAL one with the boys. She did an amazing job and we got my favorite family picture to date. It helped a TON that she brought Nate with and he was able to get mini man to actually look at the camera and laugh. SO blessed to have these pictures.
Her website is http://amandamitchellphotography.blogspot.com/

Looking forward to seeing if there will be a third boy or will we get a girl added to our clan?
I had seen this picture on another website and Nat was a real trouper and did all sorts of silly poses for me. I really appreciated it and loved how it turned out.
Yes, Ty looks like he is in pain, and if he only knew what was in store for him when that baby comes out, he would be even more scared. :-)
My favorite part of this picture is how relaxed I look. I credit Amanda's editing skills for this. :-)
