Soccer Fun

This spring we decided it was time to let Myles get involved in something besides just school and church and soccer was the activity of choice.  I of course assumed that between Nat's soccer skills and my love for anything sports related we had a mini David Beckham on our hands.  Turns out I could not have been more wrong. :-) I'm not saying that Myles doesn't have the skills, but his desire to be aggressive and fight for the ball were CLEARLY not present this first season. Myles was the kid running behind all the other kids, and when the ball happened to come towards him he would MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!!! That being said, I'm not sure why I expected anything different. We are always telling him to be nice and share and not try to take things way from other kids and he is a rule follower all the way. We finally accepted that he really liked playing soccer his way and was  in no way disappointed that he didn't score goals so we shouldn't be either. He had one of the nicest and more compassionate coaches we could have asked for and Myles loved every second of it, so it was clearly a successful first year!
Team Huddle
This is truly about the only time he kicked the ball....when he was in charge of kick off.
Not sure if you notice but Myles is the only one from the Wave here....his team is in a team huddle at the other end of the field and he doesn't even notice it. :-)
Myles and his best buddy Nathan. Love that they even held hands for the picture.
Team Wave 2012
So lucky to have Nana and Papa get to watch a game!!

  1. Love this! Jack was the same way with baseball. He had fun, but did most things exactly the opposite of what he should have. As long as they are enjoying themselves... that's what matters!
